Maybe some of you have heard about this island. Socotra Island in Yemen country with an area of 3796km. If we look at the map, the island is like a normal island, but if you come to the island of Socotra, believe it or not, you will feel like being on another planet.
Socotra Island, including the most isolated places in the world. Socotra is actually an archipelago. Socotra Island is the main island, and there are three other small islands called the island of Abd Al Kuri, Samhah Island, and Island Darsa. The highest peak on the island of Socotra is Haghier mountains with an altitude of 1500m above sea level.
Climatic and geological characteristics of this unique island, making the plants that live on this island unique and rare. Even the island's flora species including endemic plants, so the only plants in the island of Socotra. There are also some endangered plant life on this island. Flora with strange shapes like Dragon Blood tree (Dracanea cinnabari) became icons of this unique island. It is said that people used the sap of this tree as a cure of all diseases. And many more plants are rare.
The island is recognized as a UNESCO world natural heritage site in July 2008. Environmental protection in this island are very serious, even there should be no facilities for visitors such as hotels, restaurants and other buildings.
